Garden of the Gulf Museum | 902-838-2467
Come visit the oldest museum in PEI! Located in the historic Canadian Customs and Post Office building (1887), the displays include local, social, and commercial heritage. Families can trace their roots by exploring extensive family history binders, church records, microfilm, military photos and local school year books at the Genealogy Center.
Cardigan Heritage Centre | 902-583-2253
The Cardigan Heritage Centre includes community booklets, artifacts and displays about the heritage of the Cardigan area. Our shipbuilding legacy is well documented. A half scale model of a portion of the hull of a schooner built as it would have been years ago is a must see.
Matthew and McLean Museum | 902-687-7030
The Matthew and McLean building was originally constructed in 1869 in order to house the then newly formed Matthew and McLean company. Today the building houses a historical museum with artifacts related to their general merchant business along with the Visitor’s Information Center.
Souris Historic Lighthouse | 902-687-2251
The lighthouse presents a display of marine and fishery artifacts, its original Fresnel lens, a detailed history of the Souris Port along with an explanation about the formation of sea glass with many “jewels of the sea” samples. The 4th floor contains the lantern room and balcony from which visitors can admire a panoramic view of Colville Bay, the town and port where the Magdalen Islands ferry stops.
