The Museum tells the story of PEI’s historic inshore fishery with displays and exhibits that will take you back in time. Visit the Cannery for a glimpse at what the fishing industry really looked like! While at Basin Head, wander the boardwalk and stroll along the magnificent white “singing” sands. Basin Head Fisheries Museum is a provincial site administered by the PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation.

The Museum is nestled in the harbour, just a short walk from the town center. Pass a collection of working fishermen’s huts and watch as boats pull into the harbor with the day’s catch. Learn about the history of fishing on Prince Edward Island at the North Rustico Fisheries Museum.
Sea Rescue Interpretive Centre | 902-853-4520
After thriving for nearly a century as a sea rescue station, the building is now dedicated to exhibiting and interpreting the heroics and disasters of days gone by. The Centre is a tribute to local heroes, the sea, the past and the cultural history of the people of Northport.
Prince Edward Island Shellfish Museum | 902-831-3374
The museum’s purpose is to preserve the history and heighten the awareness of the public regarding the value of the shellfish industry in the local area. Displays include artifacts relating to species identification, the history of oyster cultivation, and the growth and culture of shellfish.
